What you'll walk away with
2.5 hours where you're not a mom, employee, or caretaker. Just someone making something with her hands.
Centering clay and pulling walls is a foundation you keep forever. You'll be surprised how fast it clicks.
2-3 finished, glazed, fired pieces made by your own hands. Real things you made yourself — not a kit.
What you'll learn
We start at the beginning. You'll learn to center and open the clay — the foundation everything else builds on.
This is where your piece takes shape. You'll pull walls, feel the clay move, and make your first real form.
Once your pieces are leather-hard, you'll trim and refine them. This is what separates a rough throw from a finished piece.
You pick the colors. You glaze your pieces. We hand them off to the kiln — and a couple weeks later, you take them home finished.
Pieces are typically ready for pickup 2-3 weeks after your final session. We'll let you know as soon as they're done.

A note from JohnPaul
Woman after woman would come up to me after class and tell me how much the studio had meant to them. Not just the pottery — but having a place that was theirs.
Two and a half hours where no one needed anything from them. Where they could make something with their hands and walk out feeling like themselves again.
That kept coming up. Every cohort. That's what the Kickstart is built around. Four weeks, a small group, and a real skill you'll keep forever. We take care of everything. You just show up.

The real cost
"Every single cohort, someone walks in and says — I've been wanting to do this for years."
And every single time, I think: why did it take so long? The answer is usually the same. Life got in the way. The kids needed something. Work got busy. There was always a reason to put it off.
The cost of waiting isn't $97. It's another month of putting yourself last. Another season that passes without something that's genuinely yours.
You've already earned the time. This is just the moment you decide to take it.
We've heard it all
"But I'm not artistic."
You don't have to be. Pottery isn't about talent — it's about feel, and feel is something anyone can develop with the right guidance. We start at the very beginning, go at a pace that works for everyone, and most people surprise themselves within the first session.
"I don't have time."
We know life is full. That's exactly why the Kickstart is designed the way it is — just 2.5 hours, once a week, for four weeks. Small enough to fit in. Meaningful enough to actually feel like yours.
"I'll wait until things slow down."
Things rarely slow down on their own — but you can choose to carve out a little space anyway. The Kickstart is designed to fit into a full life, not wait for a perfect one. Picking a date is often all it takes to make it real.
Common questions
None at all. This course is designed for people who have never touched clay. We start at the very beginning and go at a pace that works for everyone in the group.
Everything. Clay, all tools and materials, glazing, and kiln firing of your finished pieces. Just show up -- there's nothing to bring.
Multiple cohort times are available. Check current availability to find a day and time that works for you.
Missed sessions need to be made up within the same month the course runs. Just reach out and we'll get you rescheduled -- we'll do everything we can to make it work.
Yes -- it's encouraged. A lot of people sign up together. Just make sure you're both in the same cohort so you're learning side by side. Spots go fast, so don't wait.
A lot of students keep going. We offer memberships for ongoing studio access so you can keep practicing whenever you want. We'll share the details at the end of your course -- no pressure at all.
We cap every cohort at 10 students so you get actual hands-on time — not just a demonstration. Once a session fills, we open the waitlist for the next one.
